1954 - 2018 Resident of Oro Valley, AZ

Gregory Dion was born and raised in San Jose and attended Willow Glen High School, graduating in 1972. He then graduated from DeAnza College and taught computer science there for a time.

Greg located to Tucson Arizona and worked many years for the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific railroads, as a brakeman, retiring in 2016. He believed strongly in union causes and was often active in the union for the benefit of all his fellow workers. He spent a lot of time and many vacations at his younger brother Michael’s home in Aptos. After retirement he helped his mother care for his younger brother who passed away from cancer in September 2017. Greg then located to the Philippine­s to live in retirement with his wife of 22 years, Linda, and they were killed together in their car in Tarlac City in the Philippine­s on November 19 of 2018.

Greg is survived by his mother Janice Dion Petrinovic­h. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Michael Leland Dion just last year, and by his older brother James F. Dion in 1961. Also preceded in death by his father, Ronald J. Dion, and his stepfather Walter Petrinovic­h, and uncle, Leland Jones, and four aunts. His grandparen­ts, William and Frances Jones, moved to San Jose in 1925 and lived for many years on North 7th Street. He is also survived by an uncle, Gayle Jones of Fremont, and an aunt, Carmen McDermott of El Cerrito, several cousins, and close family friend Kevin Howell, of Piedmont, CA, formerly of Tucson, AZ.

A memorial service is scheduled for January 19, 2019 at West Valley Presbyteri­an Church in Cupertino at 1:00 pm.
