homebuilde­rs already offering new home neighborho­ods in the community are starting to build models for new offerings in 2019, and one opened new models at the end of last year, adding to the diversity of home sizes, features and prices. By midsummer, more than 30 model homes will be open, showcasing the best in design, energy-efficiency and state-of-the-art smart features.

The River Islands community is adding a major community park this year, with more than 15 acres set aside for gatherings and recreation. A 500-seat baseball stadium planned for high school league play is opening soon, as are six tournament-size soccer fields, designed for training programs and competitiv­e play.

The popular River Islands farmers market is returning in the spring, to enhance the community’s farm-to-table lifestyle. Ongoing programs for health and wellness are tied into activities as diverse as a runners club, which enjoys the community’s San Joaquin River’s edge trail, a bocce league which meets at The Boathouse restaurant and pub, a boat rental program for the community’s system of lakes, and a dog park with separate areas for big and small dogs.

River Islands has two schools, both K-8, open within the community. River Islands Technology

Academy and the Next Generation STEAM Academy are both charter schools, with widereachi­ng curricula.

The most recently opened community at River Islands is Lakeside by Kiper Homes, which held a grand opening in November. This collection offers two-story homes ranging in size from three to five bedrooms, with up to 2,500 square feet of living space. Its new models are now available for touring.

Now previewing is Bridgeport by Van Daele Homes, featuring some of River Islands’ largest home designs, with up to seven bedrooms. A large number of Bridgeport’s homes are being built on lakeside lots. Preview sales are being handled by the staff at Summer House.

There are so many different kinds of neighborho­ods at River Islands that the Welcome Center now offers informatio­n on homes in the Lakeside Collection, the Parkside Collection, the Academy Collection, the Town Center Collection and the Riverside Collection. Home sizes and prices vary within each collection, allowing homebuyers a number of choices.
