Local stars to be honored at SCV Hot Stove Banquet

A’s executive vice president and minority owner Billy Beane and 25-year MLB umpire and Los Altos High alumnus Ted Barrett will be featured guests at the 35th annual Hot Stove Banquet on Tuesday night at the San Jose Elks Club, 444 W. Alma Ave.

Stephen Piscotty of the A’s, the Mariners’ Mitch Haniger and the Dodgers’ Erik Goeddel will top the list of amateur and profession­al honorees from the greater Santa Clara Valley.

Valley Christian High and the Almaden 12-under Little League will be recognized as outstandin­g amateur organizati­ons, and Willow Glen’s Davis Miller and Valley Christian’s Patrick Wicklander as the High School Players of the Year.

Other award winners are San Jose Giants host mother Tiffany Fuentes, Saratoga High’s Nathan Peng, Stanford’s Jack Little, San Jose State’s Andrew Mitchel and Tevin Cadola, Santa Clara’s Jason Dicochea, Santa Barbara JC’s Jake Holton, Tommy Edman of the St. Louis Cardinals organizati­on, Bryson Brigman of the Miami Marlins organizati­on, A’s assistant GM/director of player personnel Billy Owens, Diamondbac­ks scout Brad Kelley and umpire Lewis Williams III.
