Sourdough & Co. eatery comes to Walnut Creek
A popular sandwich, soup and salad restaurant from north of Sacramento is expanding its reach, and Walnut Creek is the next stop.
Sourdough & Co. is scheduled to open in the next couple of weeks at The Orchards center.
The eatery specializes in warm sandwiches served on freshly baked sourdough rolls and filled with nitrate-free, hormone-free meats from Dietz & Watson, director of operations David Bagley said. Turkey is the top seller.
Soups are made fresh. Clam chowder is available daily, with or without a sourdough bread bowl.
The second-soup rotation includes chicken and poblano pepper on Monday and Thursday, tomato bisque on Tuesday, cream of potato Wednesday and Sunday, beef chili with beans on Friday and broccoli-cheese on Saturday.
Founded in El Dorado Hills in 2009, the shop became Sourdough & Co. in 2015 and the second location was opened in 2016. Now there are 24 locations in California, including East Bay locations in Dublin and Brentwood.
And more are on the way. Six additional shops will open soon in the greater Sacramento region.

Giants fan favorite MoMo’s strikes out
MoMo’s restaurant, the East Bay offshoot of a San Francisco Giants fan favorite, has struck out in Walnut Creek.
Employees of the Golden Bear Restaurant Group confirmed the closing.
It’s the second shutdown of a Giants-themed restaurant at the 1444 N. California Blvd. site. McCovey’s — with all of its baseball memorabilia — had been in business
there for 11 years.
Entrepreneurs Peter and Janet Osborne of the Golden Bear group opened the 235-seat MoMo’s American Bar & Grill in early 2017, almost 20 years after launching the original in San Francisco in 1998 near what was to become today’s Oracle Park.
That restaurant remains open at 760 Second St., as do the group’s other San Francisco properties, including the Mission Rock Resort, Pete’s Tavern and Pedro’s Cantina.
No reason was given for the East Bay shutdown.
