AT&T offers reward for info on Northern California theft ring
SAN FRANCISCO >> AT&T is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a group of suspects responsible for thefts from half a dozen of its stores in Northern California.
In a news release Thursday, the company said the thefts started in April and have targeted stores in Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, San Joaquin and Solano counties.
In each case, two to four young men with hooded sweatshirts partially concealing their faces grabbed high-end demo devices — sometimes 15 to 20 at a time — before fleeing.
Eric Goldfeld, AT&T vice president and general manager, said the financial loss has been significant, but he noted that there have been no injuries to any employees or customers.
“We place the highest priority on the safety of our customers and our people,” he said. “We are committed to doing all we can to bring those involved in these crimes to justice.”
Anyone with information about the thefts can contact AT&T at 800-8074205.
