HBO picks up Raiders at camp for ‘Hard Knocks’ show

Get ready for the Raiders on the HBO series “Hard Knocks.”

One of five teams eligible for the inside-training camp look by the network, the Raiders will be this year’s feature attraction. The NFL announced the union between the cable network and the Raiders on Twitter, and the network as well as the Raiders later sent out announceme­nts.

The series will begin Aug. 6, and cameras will be present in practices and meeting rooms, with the Raiders heavily involved in terms of the content.

COLTS PLAY IT SAFE WITH LUCK >> The Indianapol­is Colts will continue to hold Andrew Luck out of offseason workouts this week because of a strained calf. Luck says he hurt the calf during training and was surprised the injury kept him out of action for the Colts’ entire offseason program.

Coach Frank Reich continues to insist the move is precaution­ary. Indy opened its final scheduled offseason work Tuesday with a three-day mandatory minicamp.

Luck told reporters he has been throwing and believes he will be ready to practice when training camp opens in late July. ALDON SMITH ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF DUI >> Former 49ers and Raiders pass rusher Aldon Smith was arrested Monday in Kansas on suspicion of driving under the influence. The 29-year-old was initially stopped for a traffic violation. He was issued citations at the station in Mission, Kansas, and picked up there by a friend, a police spokesman told the Kansas City Star.

Smith has not played in the NFL since November 2015, when he was suspended by the league for a year for violating its substance-abuse policy. SAINTS’ JORDAN GETS EXTENSION >> The New Orleans Saints and defensive end Cameron Jordan reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension, according to published reports.

The extension will take the four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher through the 2023 season and be worth a reported $52.5 million, with $42 million in guaranteed salary.

MISTRIAL ON REMAINING COUNTS AGAINST FORMER NFL PLAYER >> A California judge declared a mistrial on the remaining charges against former NFL player Kellen Winslow Jr. after a jury convicted him of raping a 58-year-old homeless woman but could not break a deadlock over two counts of rape involving a 54-yearold hitchhiker and an unconsciou­s teen.

RODGERS MAKES BIG DONATION TO CAL >> The Cal football program has regained the full support of its most famous alumnus. The Bears announced a “seven-figure gift” from quarterbac­k Aaron Rodgers that will be used to renovate the locker room and create the Aaron Rodgers Football Scholarshi­p.

The renovation is expected to be completed in time for the 2019 season, according to the school, and will be renamed the Aaron Rodgers Team Locker Room.

Rodgers played for Cal in 2003-04, under coach Jeff Tedford, before beginning an NFL career with the Green Bay Packers that will land him in the Hall of Fame.

GRIZZLIES HIRE BUCKS ASSISTANT AS HEAD COACH >> The Memphis Grizzlies finally filled their coaching vacancy by hiring Milwaukee Bucks assistant Taylor Jenkins.

Memphis became the sixth and final NBA team to hire a new coach after firing J.B. Bickerstaf­f following the end of the season in April.

Jenkins, 34, was Mike Budenholze­r’s assistant in Milwaukee this season and in Atlanta for five seasons. Jenkins becomes Memphis’ fourth head coach since the Grizzlies chose not to renew Lionel Hollins’ contract in 2013 after he led them to their lone Western Conference final appearance.

MESSI UNSEATS MAYWEATHER AS HIGHEST-PAID ATHLETE >> Barcelona and Argentina striker Lionel Messi dethroned fivedivisi­on boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather as the highest paid athlete over the past year, according to the annual list published by business magazine Forbes on Tuesday.

Messi, who scored 36 goals while leading Barcelona to the La Liga title this year, earned $127 million between his salary and endorsemen­ts to move up one spot on the list of the world’s 100 highest-paid athletes.

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo ($109 million), Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar ($105 million), Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez ($94 million) and Swiss tennis great Roger Federer ($93.4 million) rounded out the top five.
