Kylie Jenner shows off her ‘smart baby’
Kylie Jenner’s daughter Stormi must have inherited some kind of brainpower. After all, her aunts Kim, Khloe, Kendall and Kourtney are rulers of the social media universe, and her lipstick mogul mother got Forbes to call her a “self-made” billionaire at age 20.
Jenner definitely thinks her 17-month-old is pretty smart. And like many a proud parent, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star recently shared news of her child’s latest achievements, via video clips posted to Instagram.
Very cute, of course. But like a certain kind of proud parent — those who share Facebook news about their kids’ admission to Ivy League schools, for example — there is a sense that the reality TV star believes that Stormi may be smarter than any other 17-month-old on the planet.
The first clip shows Jenner asking Stormi, “Where’s the O?” The little girl is seen repeating “O!” before grabbing the corresponding shape from a set of letters and holding it up. Stormi does the same for the letter “A.”
But Stormi, whose father is rapper Travis Scott, doesn’t stop there in showing her cognitive prowess. She next continues her mother’s counting sequence, reciting “3 … 4” after Jenner starts with “1, 2.” She also hands her mother a small red heart shape when her mother requests it.
“What color is this?” Jenner asks her daughter, holding up a purple X. Stormi can be heard replying in a soft, baby voice: “Purple.”
“My smart baby,” Jenner wrote atop the latter clip.
Looking at different guides for early childhood development milestones, Stormi does appear to be on track in her acquisition of language and cognitive skills. She may even be ahead of the game.
According to developmental psychologist Judith Hudson, writing for BabyCenter.com, most children begin recognizing some letters between the ages of 2 and 3 and can identify most letters between 4 and 5.
Jenner’s fans sound impressed: “Holy (expletive) can she teach my kids,” one person commented on the Kyliesnapchat Instagram account.
