Week’s concerts: Sara Bareilles, Lizzo and more head to Bay Area

It’s time to get out and hear some live music in the Bay Area. Here are some of our top picks for the week, highlighte­d by appearance­s from Sara Bareilles and Lizzo.

Sara Bareilles: This Northern California talent, who hails from Eureka, has accomplish­ed so much during her career. Highlights include a number of big Grammy nomination­s, including for album of the year (for 2013’s “The Blessed Unrest”) and song of the year (2007’s “Love Song”), as well as the hit Broadway way musical “Waitress” (which comes to the Center for Performing Arts in San Jose Dec. 17-22, www. broadwaysa­njose.com). Lizzo: The Detroit native is on quite a roll in 2019, with a top 10 album (“Cuz I Love You”), hit single (“Juice”) and blockbuste­r tour that includes a stand Sunday and Monday at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. VijayIyer Trio: Iyer, an amazing pianist-composer-bandleader who studied at UC Berkeley, visits SFJazz Center on Saturday with bassist Stephan Crump and drummer Jeremy Dutton. Marc Almond: The new wave/synth-pop icon, who co-founded Soft Cell with David Ball in the late ’70s, visits the Castro Theatre in San Francisco on Saturs day. He’s performing a full set of Soft Cell tunes and we prediict the sing-along on “Tainted Love” will be epic. Dettails: 6:30 p.m.; $50-$275; folkyeah.com. Larry Grenadier: This Stanford graduate, who is one of the top bassists to ever come out of the Bay Area as well as a member of the acclaimed Brad Mehldau Trio, performs two shows on Friday at the SFJazz Center in San Francisco.
