Kanye West details bad habits, prayer
Kanye West got incredibly real during an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, discussing his decadeslong battle against porn addiction.
“Like for me, Playboy was my gateway into fullon pornography addiction,” he said in the interview that aired Thursday, according to XXL Magazine.
“My dad had a Playboy left out at age 5 and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life. From age 5 till now having to kick the habit. And it just presents itself in the open like it’s OK and I stand up and say, ‘No, it’s not OK.’ ”
But he’s not just cleaning up his own act. He’s looking for those he works with to do the same.
Just consider the request he made of his collaborators on his new gospel album, “Jesus Is King.”
“There’s times where I was asking people to not have premarital sex while they were working on the album,” West said in the interview, according to Fox News. The request was reportedly intended to help the team stay focused.
He also encouraged prayer and fasting during the recording of “Jesus Is King.”
“When people pray together, and fast together, the power is increased,” he said, according to Paper.
His newfound stand against pornography drew a number of cheers on social media.
It will be interesting to see what the overall reaction is to “Jesus Is King,” West’s gospel-rap outing, which after many delays, finally came out Friday.
The track titles include “Every Hour,” “Selah,” “Follow God,” “Closed on Sunday,” “On God,” “Everything We Need,” “Water,” “God Is,” “Hands On,” “Use the Gospel” and “Jesus Is Lord.”
Folks have been checking for the album since Aug. 29, when his wife, Kim Kardashian West, shared on social media what appeared to be a handwritten track list with the date Sept. 27.
