Car buyers must demand emission-rules compliance

-

The Trump administration intends to relax the rules for smog emissions from new vehicles. I sincerely hope that our governor, attorney general and the California Air Resources Board regulator will inform the Trump administration in no uncertain terms that any new vehicle that does not meet California emission standards will simply not be permitted to be registered or sold within our state.

Any such vehicle brought into our state as a used car must either be modified to pass our emission standards or be removed or destroyed.

Four manufacturers, Ford, Honda, Volkswagen and BMW, have gone on record as agreeing to honor California emission standards. Any Californian wishing to purchase another brand would do well to call or write their dealership and inform them that they demand compliance to our clean air standards.
