Fix environmental laws to reduce wildfire risk
Re: “PG&E shutoff is about climate crisis, corporate greed” (Opinion section, Oct. 31)
I was amazed that writer Mary Creasman blamed climate change and corporate greed for the PG&E shutoffs.
There is no credible evidence that the fires have been caused by climate change. To make a fire, you need oxygen, a spark and fuel. The problem here is the California politicians who have kowtowed to crazy environmentalists with laws that do not allow the maintenance of the forests.
We need firebreaks to keep the fires from spreading, clearcutting at or near the power
transformers and the removal of fuel that has fallen from the trees. Change our laws, clean up the forests and we can have safe power again.
