Doncic gets key stops as Mavericks edge Magic

Luka Doncic scored 27 points and Dallas drew two charges on Aaron Gordon in the final minute, helping the Mavericks hang on for a 107-106 home victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night.

Trying to protect a onepoint lead, the Mavericks had two of their 17 turnovers on consecutiv­e possession­s before each of the fouls on Gordon, who was trying to drive on the first call and attempting to make a move at the 3-point line on the second.

Gordon led Orlando with 23 points but had just two after halftime.

BROOKS, MORANT HELP

GRIZZLIES BEAT TIMBERWOLV­ES >> Dillon Brooks scored 31 points, rookie Ja Morant added 26, and the Memphis Grizzlies snapped a three-game slide with a 137-121 home win over the Minnesota Timberwolv­es.

Rookie Brandon Clarke made all seven of his shots and scored 18 points, and Jae Crowder also had 18 points for Memphis . The Grizzlies snapped a threegame losing streak. 76ERS’ BEN SIMMONS INJURED

Simmons sustained a stinger in his shoulder in the first quarter after bumping Jazz guard Royce O’Neale in the chest. BULLS RACE TO BIG LEAD, ROUT HAWKS >> Tomas Satoransky scored 27 points, and the visiting Chicago Bulls raced to a big lead in the opening minutes on the way to a 113-93 rout of the Atlanta Hawks. AS PISTONS ROUT KNICKS >> Tony Snell scored 24 points on 9-of-9 shooting, and the Detroit Pistons had little trouble with New York, beating the Knicks 122-102.

The Pistons have won eight straight meetings with New York.

RAPTORS’ MCCAW HAS KNEE SURGERY >> Toronto Raptors forward Patrick McCaw underwent arthroscop­ic surgery to remove a benign mass on the back of his left knee, the team announced. The surgery came after McCaw reported discomfort.

No timetable has been set for McCaw’s return. He will not travel with the Raptors on their five-game trip that begins Friday.
