Flyers pay tribute to Lindblom with victory

The Philadelph­ia Flyers honored cancer-stricken teammate Oskar Lindblom and beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-1 on Tuesday night behind goals by Claude Giroux, David Kase and Jake Voracek.

The Flyers played their first home game since Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a cancerous tumor that grows in the bones or in the tissue around bones. The 23-year-old from Sweden, who is out for the season, stopped by the locker room during morning skate and visited his teammates. PREDATORS 8, ISLANDERS 3 >> Nick Bonino had the tiebreakin­g goal late in the second period as Nashville got seven consecutiv­e scores to beat New York. HURRICANES 6, JETS 3 >> Sebastian Aho and Jordan Staal each scored twice, Andrei Svechnikov added his second lacrosse-style goal of the season, and Carolina beat Winnipeg. PENGUINS 4, FLAMES 1 >> Two second-period goals and the 400th tally of Evgeni Malkin’s career lifted visiting Pittsburgh past Calgary. Malkin, Kris Letang, Bryan Rust and John Marino each had a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh.
