Aztecs whip Wyoming, stay unbeaten

Malachi Flynn scored 19 points, Yanni Wetzell added 17, and No. 7 San Diego State beat Wyoming 72-52 on Wednesday in Laramie to remain undefeated.

San Diego State (16-0, 5-0 Mountain West) continued its hottest start since 2010-11, when it opened 20-0 behind Kawhi Leonard and reached the Sweet 16.

Hunter Maldonado scored 18 points for Wyoming (5-11, 0-5), the conference’s last-place team.

KNIGHT LEADS SAN JOSE STATE OVER NEVADA >> Seneca Knight scored a seasonhigh 28 points to lead host San Jose State to a 70-68 win over Nevada. The Spartans (6-11, 2-3 Mountain West) made four free throws in the final minute after the game was tied 66-all to hold off Nevada and hand the Wolf Pack (10-6, 3-1) its first Mountain West loss.

JONES CLUTCH LATE AS NO. 2 DUKE HOLDS OFF GEORGIA TECH >> Tre Jones hit two key baskets down the stretch, and No. 2 Duke extended its decade-long domination of Georgia Tech, holding off the Yellow Jackets 73-64 in Atlanta.

The Blue Devils (14-1, 4-0 ACC) extended their winning streak to eight in a row. Georgia Tech (7-7, 2-2) has lost 13 straight to Duke since its last victory over the Blue Devils on Jan. 9, 2010.

KANSAS ROLLS PAST IOWA STATE >> Devon Dotson had 20 points and six assists, David McCormack added 16 points and seven rebounds, and No. 3 Kansas routed host Iowa State 79-53. The Jayhawks (122, 2-0 Big 12) closed the first half with a 21-3 run to take a 20-point lead. Kansas shot 52% from the field while limiting the Cyclones (7-7, 0-2) to 34%.

AUBURN REMAINS UNDEFEATED WITH WIN OVER VANDERBILT >> Freshman Isaac Okoro scored 17 of his season-high 23 points in the first half, and No. 5 Auburn held off Vanderbilt 83-79 at home to remain unbeaten. Ranked in the Top 5 for the first time in nearly 20 years, the Tigers (14-0, 2-0 SEC) The Tigers won their third straight in the series after losing the previous 13 meetings with Vanderbilt (8-6, 0-1).

VASSELL, NO. 10 FLORIDA STATE BEAT WAKE FOREST >> Devin Vassell scored 17 points, and No. 10 Florida State pulled away in the final 10 minutes to beat Wake Forest 78-68 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. FSU (14-2, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) has won seven straight and 14 of 15.

Brandon Childress scored 20 points to lead Wake Forest, which played without starter Chaundee Brown due to a lower-leg injury. The Demon Deacons (8-6, 1-3) fell behind by a dozen in the opening minutes but ran off 11 straight points out of halftime to erase a 41-34 halftime deficit.

DOSUNMU COMES THROUGH, LIFTS ILLINOIS PAST WISCONSIN >> Sophomore guard Ayo Dosunmu scored a team-high 18 points, including a crucial layup and 3-pointer in the final 90 seconds, and visiting Illinois rallied for a 71-70 win over Wisconsin in Madison.

Illinois (11-5, 3-2 Big Ten) snapped a 15-game losing streak against Wisconsin. Kobe King scored a game-high 21 points to lead Wisconsin (9-6, 2-2).

JACKSON-DAVIS FUELS LATE CHARGE TO GET INDIANA PAST WILDCATS >> Trayce Jackson-Davis made the tie-breaking free throws with 1:57 left and scored eight of Indiana’s final 10 points to cap a late rally, giving the Hoosiers a 66-62 home victory over Northweste­rn (5-9, 0-4 Big Ten). Indiana trailed by 10 midway through the second half and still trailed 59-54 with 3:20 to go. But Jackson-Davis, who finished with 21 points and seven rebounds, delivered on the offensive end for Indiana (12-3, 2-2).

MCGOWENS, CHAMPAGNIE HELP PANTHERS END ACC ROAD SKID >> Trey McGowens scored 24 points, and Pittsburgh ended a 22-game losing streak in conference road games with a 73-65 victory at Chapel Hill over North Carolina. Justin Champagnie added 22 points for the Panthers (11-4, 2-2 ACC), who rallied from a 14-point deficit late in the first half. North Carolina (8-7, 1-3) lost for the sixth time in eight games.

GEORGETOWN TOPPLES ST. JOHN’S >> Mac McClung scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half, and Georgetown (11-5, 1-2 Big East) beat St. John’s 87-66 at home. LJ Figueroa had 23 points for the Red Storm (11-5, 0-3).
