Trichome Productions Takes Pride in Being a Norcal True-craft-cannabis Producer

-

Trichome Productions is a San Francisco Bay Area cannabis company and was officially incorporated in 2015. The owner and founder, David P., has been involved full-time in cannabis for 27 years. Originally based out of San Francisco, Trichome Productions has found a new home in Richmond, CA and has been very pleased with the move. Richmond has embraced cannabis businesses, and was one of the first to do so. Until the passage of Prop 64 and the legalization of adult-use cannabis, Trichome had a good presence throughout the immediate Bay Area, being found in dozens of well-known and respected medical dispensaries and developing a loyal customer base through them. The company is looking to tap back into and expand upon that original following.

Like so many other cannabis businesses, Trichome Productions was focused on cultivation since its inception and the team is excited to be reintroducing their flower lineup after the completion of their new cultivation facility in Richmond, sometime in the spring of 2020. Having been growing for more than a quarter century, Trichome has collected an extensive library of cultivars, from boutique exotics to excellent examples of well-known varieties. The cultivation output will remain relatively small as the experienced team knows consistent highquality flower is very difficult, if not impossible, to do on a large commercial scale. The aim for the company is to be one of the better “micro-brews” in the State with their offerings of flower and concentrates.

The focus on just cultivation started to change around 2008 with the passage of SB420 that allowed cannabis dispensaries to flourish up and down the State. Having already maximized the potential of the cultivation site they were working out of and looking to expand their product lineup, Trichome made the leap into extracts, starting off with cold-water hash. There was a great market for high quality full-melt hash at the time but with the introduction of shatter on the market a few years later, high quality coldwater hash, which is labor intensive and low yielding, became increasingly difficult to justify producing when the prices began to drop. That is when David and his crew decided to get into BHO extraction and start producing shatter.

The learning curve to produce topshelf shatter safely was steep and expensive. David built an early style closed-loop system based on the legendary Grey Wolf design. The systems and components needed to excel in the BHO extract market rapidly and continuously evolved and still do to this day. Trichome Productions has been at the leading edge of this innovation and from the beginning has emphasized safety and quality over mass production. One of the areas that Trichome was an early adapter of was in testing extracts for quality and safety through Steep Hill Labs. Trichome Productions developed and refined their methods based on testing feedback provided by the lab. Long before it was mandatory, and with great expense, justified through integrity, Trichome was able consistently provide low residual solvent and pesticide free BHO extracts.

Shifting forward to the present, Trichome Productions has forged valuable relationships with like minded partners such as Rio Vista Farms and Coco Farms who consistently provide excellent flower product to enable the creation of top-shelf extracts that most extraction companies can only dream about. Try out some of the extracts and see for yourself.
