Peters says he dumped Anderson after paying debts
When Jon Peters received a text from his bombshell ex-flame, Pamela Anderson, saying she wanted to get married, the famously ruthless producer and onetime Hollywood hairdresser/lothario dropped everything — including his current fiancee.
“Needless to say that when she texted me that she wanted to get married, it was kind of a dream come true even though I was engaged to someone else and the lady was moving in,” Peters said in an email to Page Six.
But the 74-year-old Peters said he ended the marriage after 12 days when he realized Anderson, 52, was “broke” and needed help paying off her sizable debts.
“I dropped everything for Pam,” Peters told Page Six. “She had almost $200,000 in bills and no way to pay it so I paid it and this is the thanks I get. There’s no fool like an old fool.”
Peters said he contacted Page Six to offer his version of how the quickie marriage ended. Peters, who famously dated Barbra Streisand and co-produced her 1976 version of “A Star Is Born,” wasn’t happy to read that someone from Anderson’s camp had told Page Six that he had asked the former “Baywatch” beauty to marry him “on a whim.”
Peters also “took umbrage” with the source telling Page Six that it was Anderson who realized the marriage was “a mistake” because he was “too controlling.”
“Everything they told you was a lie,” Peters insisted to Page Six. “If she meant controlling, I’ve paid … (her) bills since she was broke. I bought her a completely new wardrobe.”
The pair secretly wed in a private Malibu ceremony on Jan. 20. A source previously told Page Six that Anderson jumped into the marriage because her heart was “too open” from a recent “spiritual cleanse” in India. A representative for Anderson fired back at Peters’ version of events, telling Page Six: “These claims are not only entirely fabricated, they are ludicrous.”
Peters and Anderson announced their split on Feb. 1. They first dated nearly 30 years ago. Over the years, Anderson has had a number of turbulent, high-profile relationships and marriages, including marriages to rockers Tommy Lee and Kid Rock.
