Bouwmeeste­r taken off bench in stretcher

St. Louis defenseman Jay Bouwmeeste­r collapsed on the bench during a break in play in the first period, prompting the Blues and Anaheim Ducks to postpone their game Tuesday night in Anaheim.

The Blues did not provide any official medical updates.

Teammates immediatel­y called for medical help after Bouwmeeste­r slumped over with 7:50 left in the first period.

Bouwmeeste­r appeared to be grabbing a drink of water when he began to slowly fall. Emergency medical personnel rushed to the Blues bench.

Ducks and Blues players gathered to see what was wrong before Bouwmeeste­r was taken off the bench. Both teams then went back to their locker rooms and the game was called off a few minutes later tied at 1.

MCDAVID OUT >> Edmonton captain Connor McDavid will be out two to three weeks with a quad injury. The injury was initially said to be a bruised knee from Saturday’s game against the Nashville Predators. McDavid later called it a charley horse/quad injury.

BLUE JACKETS’ JONES UNDERGOES ANKLE SURGERY >> Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones underwent surgery to repair his injured ankle and is expected to be sidelined approximat­ely eight to 10 weeks, the team announced.

Jones, 25, sustained a sprain and hairline fracture of his ankle in Saturday’s 2-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. He was placed on injured reserve two days later. AVALANCHE’S KADRI OUT INDEFINITE­LY >> Colorado Avalanche center Nazem Kadri is out indefinite­ly because of a lower-body injury sustained Sunday at Minnesota.

Kadri fell during a faceoff in the second period of a 3-2 win over the Wild. He limped badly to the locker room, favoring his right leg.
