Lull leads Stanford to high-scoring win

Lacie Hull scored 24 point, and Kiana Williams added 19 to lift No. 8 Stanford to a 97-64 women’s basketball win over Utah on Friday night in Salt Lake City.

Fighting to keep pace with UCLA and Oregon — who played later on Friday — at the top of the Pac-12 standings, the Cardinal (22-3, 11-2 Pac-12) ran off quick outlets on rebounds and 12 takeaways into a 25-2 advantage on fast break points.

It was the most points Stanford had scored in a conference game since 2011.

Ashten Prechtel scored 16 points on a variety of post moves as the Cardinal outscored Utah in the paint, 40-16.

Kemery Martin matched her career high with 15 points, Lola Pendande had 12, and Daneesha Provo tallied 11 for the Utes (12-12, 5-8 Pac-12).

The Cardinal used a late second-quarter burst to set their season-high for points in a quarter (32) and match its season-best for a half at 55. In the final six minutes of the half, Stanford scored an astounding 28 points, including Prechtel’s 3-pointer and Williams’ steal and layup all within five seconds of the horn.

The Cardinal claimed this one with 15-for-30 accuracy from beyond the arc and 54% shooting overall.

Stanford is 25-1 against Utah, with the lone loss coming last year in Salt Lake City.

CAL FALTERS AT COLORADO >> Senior Jaelyn Brown led Cal with 15 points, but the Bears (9-15, 1-12 Pac-12) fell 64-57 at Colorado. The Bears trailed by as many as 11 points in the fourth quarter but cut the deficit to five with 49 seconds to play. But the Buffaloes (15-9, 4-9 Pac-12) closed out the game down the stretch to secure the season sweep.

NO. 12 ARIZONA GETS 20TH VICTORY >> Aari McDonald scored nine of her 19 points in the third quarter when No. 12 Arizona pulled away from Washington for a 64-53 victory in Tucson the Wildcats’ 20th win. Helena Pueyo had four 3-pointers and 14 points for the Wildcats (20-4, 9-4 Pac-12). Amber Melgoza scored 22 points for the Huskies (11-13, 3-10).

22 ARIZONA STATE OVER WASHINGTON STATE >> Reili Richardson scored 13 of her 22 points in the final five minutes to help No. 22 Arizona State (17-8, 7-6 Pac-12) take the lead and hold off Washington State (11-14, 4-9) 62-59 in Tempe.

LATE THURSDAY: CAL, STANFORD LOSE TO ARIZONA SCHOOLS >> Remy Martin scored 24 points, and Arizona State (168, 7-4 Pac-12) overcame a late scoring drought to hold off host Stanford 7469. Tyrell Terry scored 24 points for Stanford (16-8, 5-6), which played without Oscar da Silva, who suffered a head injury last week at Colorado. Down 68-57 with 5:34 to go after Martin buried a 3-pointer, Stanford made one final push, holding the visitors scoreless for the next 5:03. ... Arizona’s Zeke Nnaji scored 21 points, including seven in a key second-half stretch, as the Wildcats beat Cal 68-52. Arizona (177, 7-4 Pac-12) beat Cal (1014, 4-7) for the eighth consecutiv­e time.
