REALTOR®: Silicon Valley REALTORS® 2020 Leadership Installed
The Silicon Valley Association of REALTORS® (SILVAR) 2020 leadership was installed at the Los Altos Golf & Country Club on January 23. California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) 2020 President Jeanne Radsick administered the oath of office to 2020 SILVAR President Mary Kay Groth and SILVAR’s 2020 officers and Board Directors. SILVAR’s 2020 lead officers include Groth, a REALTOR® with Sereno Group Los Gatos; Joanne Fraser, a REALTOR® with Compass Los Altos, President-elect; and Jeff Bell, broker manager of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cupertino, Treasurer. Joining the lead officers as 2020 Board Directors are Alan Barbic (Sereno Group), Past President; Bill Moody (Referral Realty), Region 9 Chair; Leannah Hunt (Sereno Group), NAR Director; District Chairs Francesca Lampert (Coldwell Banker), Menlo Park-Atherton District; Lynn Wilson Roberts (Compass), Palo Alto; Greg Boudreau (Coldwell Banker), Los Altos-Mountain View District; Mark Burns (Coldwell Banker), CupertinoSunnyvale District, and Elizabeth Doyle (Sereno Group), Los Gatos-Saratoga District; and Directors At-large Brett Caviness (Compass), Katherine Frey (Katherine Frey Real Estate), Eileen Giorgi (Sereno Group), Jim Hamilton (Compass), Penelope Huang (Golden Gate Sotheby’s Real Estate) and Karen Trolan (Sereno Group). A native of Illinois, Groth and her husband Kenn moved to Los Gatos in 1987, where she worked at a small family-owned commercial property management company, then moved on to residential real estate with Cornish & Carey. Groth first got involved with SILVAR through volunteering. She later served as member, chair-elect, then chair of the Los Gatos-Saratoga District Council and C.A.R. Region 9 Director. Following the installation ceremony, 2019 President Alan Barbic and CEO Paul Cardus presented the 2019 Recognition Awards. Jim Hamilton, who is with Compass Los Gatos and has been practicing real estate for nearly four decades, was presented the prestigious 2019 REALTOR® of the Year award, having served in many roles at the local and state association levels. Hamilton was 2005 C.A.R. President, a C.A.R. Region 9 Director, SILVAR Board Director and 2019 Chair of the Los Gatos-Saratoga District. Kathy Cochran, a SILVAR affiliate with PNC Mortgage, was named 2019 Affiliate of the Year. Cochran was recognized for her willingness to help where needed and enhancing the image of the Association and its members. Denise Welsh, a REALTOR® with Compass Los Altos, was bestowed the Spirit of SILVAR award, for reflecting SILVAR’s commitment to supporting and contributing to the communities its members serve. Welsh has been actively involved in the Los Altos community, serving on the Los Altos Historical Commission, chair of the local school essay contest, as member of the local Chamber of Commerce, and helping local fundraisers for schools, church, veterans’ organizations and the Boy Scouts. The President’s award was presented to Carole Feldstein, a REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Los Altos. Feldstein has served as SILVAR’s federal political coordinator with distinction for over 20 years. Barbic praised Feldstein for her untiring advocacy for REALTORS® in Washington, D.C. as SILVAR FPC to U.S. Representative Anna Eshoo.
