On a comeback, Affleck has a new girlfriend
After spending a few years being a tabloid regular for his messy personal life, battles with alcohol abuse and questionable career choices, Ben Affleck is trying to work his way back to being a wellregarded movie star.
Affleck’s personal life, however, will continue to make headlines with the news that he is reportedly dating Ana de Armas, a costar in one of his new film projects.
People magazine reported that Affleck and de Armas, who is on the cusp of major movie stardom herself, took a romantic getaway together to Havana, Cuba.
Affleck, 47, and de Armas, 31, were photographed by fans dining out together last week and walking around the Cuban capital, where de Armas is from. They also were spotted making out at the airport before they boarded a private jet Saturday night to fly home.
“They are definitely dating,” a source told People.
The two recently wrapped filming “Deep Water,” a thriller from “Fatal Attraction” director Adrian Lyne. They play a married couple who play mind games with each other after falling out of love.
But in real life, Affleck and de Armas seem to be falling into love — or something. People reported that the two spent time together outside of work in New Orleans, where “Deep Water” was filmed this winter. A fan tweeted a photo of them together at a New Orleans bar in January, People reported.
De Armas is on her way to stardom after her breakout role in fall’s popular whodunit “Knives Out.” She also appeared in “Blade Runner 2049” and stars in the upcoming Bond film “No Time to Die.”
Affleck is in the midst of trying to rehabilitate his career and damaged reputation after being blamed for breaking up his family in a messy, high-profile divorce from Jennifer Garner. He and Garner share three children. Affleck’s personal drama also included reported dalliances with his children’s nanny and a Playboy Playmate, and an on-off relationship with “Saturday Night Live” producer Lindsay Shookus that ended last spring.
Affleck has four movies coming out this year, including the recently released “The Way Back.”
