Tekashi 6ix9ine launches feud with Grande, Bieber
Since his early release from prison amid the COVID-19 pandemic, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has lost no time returning to his trolling ways as his promotes “Gooba,” his new video that lets him confront his haters while having women twerk around him.
The rainbow-haired former government witness initially went after Meek Mill and Chet Hanks, and then exchanged barbs with Snoop Dogg, last but it turns out those targets were just a warm-up in Tekashi’s strategy to keep himself in the spotlight by shamelessly saying and doing increasingly outrageous things.
To that end, Tekashi, 24, described in a 2019 Rolling Stone piece as the “Donald Trump of the music industry,” has launched a feud with two of pop’s biggest stars: Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. He’s claiming on Instagram that Grande and Bieber’s quarantine-inspired single, “Stuck With U,” unfairly locked his “Gooba” out of a No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for this week.
“I want the world to know that Billboard is a lie,” Tekashi complained in an Instagram video, which garnered more than 9 million views. “You can buy No. 1s on Billboard.” He then called out Grande, claiming that her team purchased 60,000 units of the “Stuck” track with six different credit cards.
“It’s all manipulated,” the rapper, born Daniel Hernandez, said in a clip. “It’s not fair.”
Billboard denied Tekashi’s accusations and Grande wrote on Instagram: “OUR fans bought this song (never more than four copies each, AS THE RULES STATE). they are ride or die (expletive) and i thank god every day that i have them in my life.”
Bieber, via Instagram story, also disputed Tekashi’s claims, Us Weekly reported.
“Nielsen company checks this and found all our sales were legit because our fans are amazing and bought them. Don’t discredit our fan base with false info,” Bieber said.
“Stuck With U” is a fundraiser for the First Responders Children’s Foundation, a scholarship fund for kids of front-line workers whose lives have been affected by the coronavirus.
