San Jose gang investigat­ion ends in eight arrests

A South Bay gang investigat­ion culminated Wednesday and Thursday in eight arrests, as well as the seizure of half a dozen firearms, illegal drugs and tens of thousands of dollars, authoritie­s said. The investigat­ion, which began in April, focused on “suspects associated with gangs for possessing firearms and other crimes,” San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said in a news release Friday. Garcia said the police department’s Gang Investigat­ions Unit and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office served 13 search warrants in San Jose and one in Milpitas on Wednesday and Thursday. Eight suspects were arrested and booked into county jail on charges including child endangerme­nt, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of narcotics for sale and possession of illegal weapons, according to Garcia. Garcia said authoritie­s also seized six guns, one of which had been stolen; ammunition; brass knuckles; marijuana and other drugs; and $26,000 in cash from drug sales. The suspects were identified as 30-yearold Daniel Adlama, 26-year-old Marcos Cuevas, 34-year-old Julio Garcia-cortez, 26-year-old Hector Hurtado, 32-year-old Maria Jimenez, 32-year-old Robert Jimenez, 30-year-old Ervin Steverson III, all of San Jose, and 28-year-old Raul Radillo of Milpitas.
