Metallica, San Francisco Symphony ready new album, film

opened Metallica the Golden and the State San Francisco Warriors’ new Chase Symphony Center in historic fashion back in September. The shows drew some 40,000 fans, traveling in from roughly 70 countries, to see what was the first collaborat­ion between the Bay Area’s bestsellin­g band and the acclaimed symphony since their 1999 performanc­es featured on the Grammy-winning “S&M” album.

Fans can relive those magical Chase Center nights — Sept. 6 and 8, 2019 — with the upcoming release of the “S&M2” live and concert film. The album will be available in many formats, from digital and streaming to CD and vinyl, and the concert film is being released on both DVD and Blu-ray.

“S&M2” will be released on Aug. 28, but pree orders have begun. Here’s a look at the offerings.

• Deluxe Box — limited edition four-LP color vinyl, exclusive photobook, two CDs, Blu-ray, sheet music, five guitar picks, poster, download card; $129.99

• Super Deluxe Box — all of the above, plus original sheet music signed by the band. Limited to 500 via Metallica.com; $299.99

• Black four-LP set — with photobbook and download card; $69.99

• Color four-LP set — with photobook and download card (exclusive to indie retail and Metallica.com; $69.99

• Two-CD set — with 36-page booklet; 36-page $16.99; two-CD/Blu-ray set — with booklet; $26.99

• Two-CD/DVD set — with 36-page booklet; $24.99

It’s also available in Blu-ray, DVD, d album and digital movie.
