Alaska Airlines adds San Jose flights
SAN JOSE >> Alaska Airlines has decided to launch new flights that will connect San Jose International Airport to three different states, providing a welcome counterpoint to the dreary travel trends worldwide spawned by the coronavirus.
The new daily flights will connect San Jose airport travelers to destinations in Washington state, Oregon, and Montana.
“This new service demonstrates Alaska’s confidence and continued commitment to the San Jose and Silicon Valley market during these unprecedented times,” said Judy Ross, assistant director of aviation with San Jose International Airport.
Alaska Airlines’ new flights will connect San Jose to Spokane, Washington; Redmond, Oregon; and Missoula, Montana, the airport and the air carrier said.
“San Jose is an important focus city for Alaska, and we’re always looking at opportunities to grow our footprint,” said Brett Catlin, managing director of capacity planning and alliances with Alaska Airlines.
The flights connecting San Jose and Spokane begin in September of this year.
In March of 2021, Alaska intends to initiate the new air connections with Redmond and Missoula, the airline said.
“As our guests begin to return to the skies, we believe leisure travel will play an increasingly important part of overall demand,” Catlin said.
The new flights fit efforts by Alaska to widen its leisure offerings.
“Our additions from San Jose to Spokane, Redmond, and Missoula are a key part of our network diversification plans,” Catlin said.
