Complete home comfort is the goal of this local, family business

-

As an essential business, Valley Heating, Cooling, Electrical and Solar remained open during the COVID-19 pandemic although they shortened the work hours due to the downturn in business when the Shelter in Place directive started. “We knew that there would be uncertainty about having technicians and service staff working on site but we were here to address any emergency needs and we were very diligent about following all the precautions,” said company president, Cindy Faulkner. “We are now keeping our regular hours and still able to do a lot of consultation over the phone or by email — and we make sure we keep our distance when we are on site and always wear masks,” she added. Faulkner are the current owners of Valley Heating, Cooling, Electrical and Solar. In 1962, Tom Atkinson II founded Valley Heating and Cooling with the office and showroom originally located on 13th Street in San Jose. In 1970, Tom Atkinson III took over the business and moved it to the current location on North 4th Street in 1989. In 2003, Tom’s goal was to sell the family business to local, reputable and independent owners — Cindy and Jeff met that goal. Before the purchase, they had a combined total of 33 years of experience in the industry. “Our company’s slogan is ‘The Home of Old-fashioned Service’ and we strive to meet that mission every day — and we feel that it is even more important in this unprecedented situation,” said Cindy. “As a home and business owner, I know how important reliability, expert advice, quality work and customer service are to me when I hire a contractor. Knowing this, our goal is to provide a level of service that goes beyond normal expectations for our day and age. The commitment starts with our support staff and the initial phone call to our office that will be answered in person by our helpful and knowledgeable receptionist. It then extends to the field, to our highly trained sales staff, technicians and equipment installers. We are all commit to go the extra mile to determine our clients’ needs and optimize their comfort,” Cindy added. Another focus for the company is “the whole house approach” and to support that approach, they added electrical and solar services in 2009. Adding electrical enabled providing all services needed for air conditioning installations, including panel upgrades. They also install car charging services. Adding solar increases energy efficiency and decreases energy bills and they have added battery back-up installations allowing solar energy to run during a power outage. Cindy and Jeff are also involved in their local community including working with several of their staff to support Rebuilding Together to provide services to local and deserving homeowners. Both are active members of the Rotary Club of San Jose and Cindy served as president of the club in 2016-2017. Cindy was also a recipient of the Silicon Valley Monterey Council, Boy Scouts of America Character Award in 2019.
