New drive-in shows on tap

Drive-in movie theaters are hot in 2020, as families looking for entertainm­ent options during the COVID-19 pandemic have increasing­ly turned to these social distancing-friendly venues. Here’s a roundup of some of the drive-in movie locations in the Bay Area and surroundin­g areas.

West Wind Drive-In Theaters: Movies are offered nightly at the company’s three Northern California locations — Capitol Drive-In in San Jose, Solano Drive-In in Concord and Sacramento Drive-In. Most offerings are second-run and classic films, but check listings for special programs, like the recent Shark Week events. This week, the Capitol Drive-In in San Jose will host the California premiere of “Peninsula,” the hotly anticipate­d sequel to Korean horror film “Train to Busan.” Tickets $8.25 per person ($5 on Tuesdays), $2 for kids ages 5-11, free for kids 4 and under; westwinddi.com.
