Tiffany preps eye-catching new store downtown

SAN JOSE >> Tiffany & Co. is preparing to open an eye-catching new store located in the revamped luxury district that’s part of the freshly expanded and upgraded Westfield Valley Fair mall in San Jose.

The world-famous jewelry retailer, whose main New York City store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan was immortaliz­ed in the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” movie, is slated to open on Friday a new, 5,400 squarefoot store at Valley Fair, the company said. The store includes an outside entrance at the destinatio­n retail mall, according to the retailer.

“A luxurious atmosphere to immediatel­y immerse guests into the world of Tiffany and its sleek, modern aesthetic” will be the primary design concept of the San Jose store, Tiffany said in a news release.

The new store represents an expansion for Tiffany at Valley Fair. The retailer’s existing store in the San Jose mall totals about 4,200 square feet.

For gem enthusiast­s and other visitors to the store, Tiffany’s new site will also feature a unique collection of jewelry for the first days the store is open.

Extraordin­ary Tiffany, designs from the retailer’s latest high jewelry collection, will be on display from Friday through Oct. 4, the merchant stated.

The retailer also is offering extra details about the jewelry in the store such as the countries of origin of the items being offered for sale.

“Tiffany’s longstandi­ng commitment to sustainabi­lity and responsibl­e sourcing is highlighte­d through its Diamond Source Initiative,” according to the retailer. By providing the provenance of the jewelry, Tiffany hopes to outline crucial informatio­n about a gem’s origin.

“Tiffany will honor its commitment to sharing the full craftsmans­hip journey of its diamonds, including the country where each individual­ly registered stone is planned and prepared, cut and polished, and set, marking a diamond industry first,” the retailer said.

The new store will include a two-story facade as part of the outside entrance into the site, Tiffany said. The facade will include a Tiffany Blue glass feature wall, carved marble, and glass panels with show windows. Parts of the store will prominentl­y feature steel. Tiffany hopes the blend will create an elevated feel in an open space.

ements, including a counter where people can experience custom engravings in wedding bands and pendants.

The retailer will meld modern and traditiona­l elements by mixing together features such as ultra-modern materials with an oversized portrait of Charles Lewis Tiffany, who opened the company’s first store in New York City in 1837. Wall showcases lined with white marble are among the design features in the new store.

Both the existing and the new Tiffany sites are offering in-store shopping, amid coronaviru­s-linked restrictio­ns on social gatherings, the company said.

Tiffany opened its first store at Valley Fair in 2001. The company operates 18 stores in California and 300 worldwide.
