New ‘Amazing Race’ cast includes Bay Area siblings
A pair of siblings from the East Bay will make up one of 11 teams competing this fall as “The Amazing Race” returns to the airwaves.
Eswar, 24, and Aparna Dhinakaran, 26, residents of Fremont and Berkeley, respectively, will be in the spotlight during the globe-trotting reality series, which kicks off its 32nd season Oct. 14 on CBS.
They are both software engineers. In a promotional video for the show, Aparna expresses concern that “we’re literally not going to have a computer for a whole month!”
This installment of “The Amazing Race” was filmed long before the pandemic — in the fall of 2018 — so there was no concern about social distancing and or other pandemic safety precautions altering the game in any way. The teams begin their adventure from the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and travel to their first destination, Trinidad and Tobago.
Along the route, teams will also travel to France, Germany, Kazakhstan,
Brazil and more. The team that crosses the finish line first capture $1 million.
