Kelly Corrigan hosting new TV series and launching a podcast
Kelly Corrigan bemoans America’s collective shrinking attention span, the one that she claims has “reduced all of us to a world of salacious headlines” and flooded so many forms of media with empty calories and sound-bite interviews.
“I’m so done,” she said, “with those five- minute segments on morning TV.”
And so the Oakland resident and best- selling author is about to serve up a two-fisted alternative — on one hand there’s a new intimate, hourlong PBS interview series, and on the other is a podcast that “delves into deep questions with thoughtful guests.”
Clearly, it’s all about quality time with Corrigan.
Produced through “PBS Newshour” and debuting on Monday the TV series — “Tell Me More With Kelly Corrigan” — has its host conducting candid conversations with influential leaders in their fields, including lawyer and socialjustice activist Bryan Stevenson, late-night TV host James Corden, and actress Jennifer Garner.
With the weekly podcast — “Kelly Corrigan Wonders” — she plans to approach “pivotal questions” in a month- long miniseries format. The opening series, for example, is aimed at debunking various pieces of conventional wisdom. Helping her do so will be a group of authors and podcasters. The podcast launches on Tuesday.
A signature segment of the TV interviews is called “Plus Two,” in which Corrigan asks her guests for two people they admire and respect. Those two people then get some camera time and share their thoughts about themselves and the featured guest.
“I promise that after spending an hour with us, you will feel better. You will know more. And you will be more ready to face tomorrow.”
