Pacific Service Credit Union
Every day, Pacific Service Credit Union puts people before profits. With this pledge, they provide lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and fewer and lower fees than most other financial institutions. Members receive benefits often much greater than the average. Within a recent 12 month reporting period, Pacific Service CU provided over $15 million in financial benefits to its members. That equals nearly $500 in annual savings per household. By offering lower rates on new and used car loans, personal loans, credit cards, and home loans, Pacific Service CU is able to save its members money, which strengthens their financial wellbeing. In addition, as the situation with COVID-19 continues to unfold, they have provided assistance to members who have been adversely impacted by the pandemic by offering loan modifications, special assistance loans, increased credit limits, and fee waivers.
The credit union has a long standing history of corporate philanthropy and giving back to the communities it serves, especially in times of crisis. During these past few months, Pacific Service CU has provided charitable donations to local organizations that provide food, shelter, and relief to their communities. Funding was given to the Food Banks of Contra Costa and Solano, Central California, and Alameda, as well as the Red Cross, the Monument Crisis Center, Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa, Opportunity Junction, White Pony Express, and Youth Homes to help the increased need for assistance during the pandemic.
For the past six years, Pacific Service CU has ranked as one of the Top 100 Bay Area Corporate Philanthropists as published by the San Francisco Business Times. They are among a handful of Bay Area companies that donate more than two percent of their net earnings to charitable organizations. They donate approximately $175,000 annually to local non-profit organizations that focus on children, education, health and human services, and disaster relief.
Founded in 1936 by Pacific Gas & Electric Company employees, Pacific Service CU is dedicated to providing trustworthy products and services to its nearly 70,000 members to help them achieve their financial goals and strengthen their financial lives. Today, nearly 85 years later, the not-forprofit credit union has surpassed $1.3 billion in assets.
