Two arrested in connection with Fremont liquor store burglary
FREMONT >> A pair of East Bay men have been arrested in connection with the brazen burglary of a liquor store in Fremont’s Irvington District last month, police said.
The burglary was reported about 3: 30 a. m. Nov. 16 at Meadow Square Liquor on Blacow Road. The suspects drove a stolen pickup truck through the doors and stole lottery tickets, as well as other items.
In a news release Thursday, the Fremont Police Department said investigators identified two suspects — a 37-year- old Livermore man and a 30-year-old Hayward man — based on items recovered from the pickup truck, which was found abandoned several blocks from the scene.
T he 37- year- old suspect already was wanted in a residential burglary in Mountain View, police said. He was arrested in Livermore on Dec. 1. Police said they found a loaded firearm, a loaded magazine and loose ammunition inside the suspect’s backpack.
On Thursday, the suspect was arraigned on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a concealed firearm, police said. His next court hearing is scheduled for Jan. 5.
Police said the 30-yearold suspect was arrested Nov. 20 after he was caught on camera trying to cash a lottery ticket in Hayward. He was interviewed and released pending additional follow-up.
Detectives are finalizing their investigation into the liquor store burglary and plan to present their findings to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, police said.
