June Furuichi

-

June was born in Brawley, CA to Shatoji and Mitsuya Sano. At the age of 10 her family was evacuated to Rohwer, Arkansas. After the war the family returned to Norwalk, then moved to Santa Maria, and settled in Campbell. In Santa Maria her family share cropped raising strawberries. She spent the formative years of her life as a farm girl working the fields growing strawberries with her older siblings. She met her husband, Ben, while he attended Cal Polytechnic State Univ. They were married in 1955 where they built their home and raised a family next door to his parents and relatives. He worked and became co-owner of the Los Altos Nursery along side his Father and two Uncles. She worked at Calif Bank Trust and 18 years at HP building custom PC boards until her retirement. With Ben’s love of sports she became an avid Giants and Niners fan. Over the years they were active members at the Mtn. View Buddhist Temple and their favorite activity was weekly ballroom dance lessons with their friends.

She left behind daughters Carol (Ken) Neishi, Shirley (Charles) Griffin, Grandchildren Kristen (Matt) Hopkins, Kyle Neishi, Great Grandchildren Logan and Naomi Hopkins, sister Elaine Kawakami, in-laws James (Satoko) and Karen Furuichi, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ben, daughter Linda and 6 siblings.

Her family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Sunnyside Gardens Assisted Living for their dedication and compassionate care for her the past 3 years.

Due to current conditions no Memorial service will be held. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Mtn. View Buddhist Temple or Second Harvest Food Bank.
