Align Technology moves HQ to Arizona
Orthodontics maker creates digital center in Silicon Valley
SAN JOSE >> Align Technology, maker of the Invisalign orthodontics system, has shifted its headquarters from San Jose to Arizona but will keep an innovation hub in north San Jose.
The company moved its headquarters to Tempe, Arizona, on Jan. 1, but vowed to retain a major presence in Silicon Valley.
“The company’s San Jose campus remains the hub for its global innovation, product, and marketing organization and will become
home to its new Digital Innovation Center, currently under construction,” Align Technology said in a prepared
release.
Align’s disclosure comes just weeks after Hewlett Packard Enterprise revealed it would shift its corporate headquarters from Silicon Valley to Texas, yet still maintain an innovation hub at its current San Jose campus.
“The pattern emerging from HPE and Align is instructive,” San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said in an interview. “Both companies are adding tech-skilled employees in San Jose. But with both companies deciding to move their headquarters and top administrative staff out of state, that should be a lesson for our friends in Sacramento.”
