Stan Shiba, born in Scottsbluf­f, NE, was the second youngest of ten children. He passed away at his home in Tucson, AZ at the age of 84 from cancer. He was also fighting late stage pulmonary fibrosis.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria Shiba of Tucson; sons, Michael (Ann) of San Jose, CA, and David (Karen) of Moraga, CA; grandchild­ren, Zak, Jillian, and Owen; stepdaught­er, Jamie Bartley of Placervill­e, CA, her daughters, Amber Martin (Chris) of Tucson, Robin Petree of Reno, NV, and their half-sister, Emily Petree of Placervill­e, CA; and great grandchild­ren, Brooklyn, Jameson, and Kimi Martin. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill (Jan) of San Diego, CA and Yas of Lincoln, NE, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families.

In 1960, Stan began his teaching career in San Jose. He was a principal in Milpitas School District, CA for 18+ years before moving to Placervill­e, CA in 1986 to become principal at Charles Brown School, Mother Lode School District, until he retired in 1994. Prior to Stan’s long and successful career in education, he served proudly in the US Marine Corps for two years. He and Vicki retired to Isleton, CA before moving to Tucson in 2005. Known as Dad, Poppa, Uncle Stan, Stan the Man, or simply Stan, he had an impact on so many lives and will be missed by lifelong friends and loving family.
