Meaningful, ongoing communication with the loyal clients of her niche business is one of the many ways Sheila Gall has sustained and grown the business that she opened in 2009 after 25 years’ training and experience.
“In my 38 years of doing hair, the past year has been the craziest,” says Sheila, owner of Social Butterfly Beauty.
But Sheila has no regrets or hard feelings. That’s because she’s the kind of person who finds opportunities for positive change amid challenges
“At the beginning of the pandemic, I enrolled in a class and became certified as a social media specialist,” she says. “I like it so much that I want to help other people with their businesses!”
While expanding her social media prowess, Sheila improved her communication channels, amplified her Instagram presence and enhanced her newsletter. Through these, she shares tips, tricks and inspirations.
As part of her evolution, Sheila ensured that her clients wouldn’t go without the nontoxic, organic-only color treatments that are her signature. As soon as the state board allowed it, Sheila began curating custom color kits and delivering them to clients with instructions.
Sheila also expanded her online organic hair and beauty products store. She sells a large suite of skin care and hair care products from lines that follow her belief in nontoxic personal care.
And although Sheila cuts all kinds of hair, she has increased her image as the go-to stylist for curly hair.
“One client drives all the way from Vallejo to have us cut her curly hair,” says Sheila, noting that people with curls appreciate the value of finding a specialist.
