Justin Berteaux’s nearly two decades’ experience in the mortgage industry as a loan officer and manager is evident as soon as you sit down and talk to him. After his second consecutive Best of Silicon Valley win, Justin explained his keys to success. “Being a good loan officer cannot be summed up with one idea or daily task. Being a good loan officer takes a combination of experience, working with the right company, and having the right business approach.
“It’s easy to count the number of loan closings you have and be content. To me, the right approach is to focus on helping people. Sometimes that means advising them not to take out a new loan right now. That may sound counterproductive, but I strive to be a true consultant rather than just an order-taker.”
