If “Hamilton” can’t lure people back into theaters, what can?

At a time when the state is loosening guidelines for staging live productions and COVID-19 vaccinations are becoming available to more more people, Broadway San Jose on Monday unveiled its new, fully live season that kicks off Oct. 13 with “Hamilton,” Lin-Manuel Miranda’s blockbuster musical about Alexander Hamilton and America’s founding fathers.

The hip hop-fueled musical featuring nearly an all-minority cast, is set to play through Oct. 31 in the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. Masks will be required for all patrons and employees but BSJ officials say all 2,600 seats of the theater will be available.

Also booked for the new season are “Hairspray” (Nov. 23-28), Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (Jan. 18-23), “Tootsie” (April 19-24, 2022), “Dear

Evan Hansen” (June 18-19) and the Diane Paulus revival of another founding fathers musical, “1776.”

Season ticket packages run $280-$695 and go on sale May 3 at broadwaysanjose.com. There are also a limited number of Director’s Circle ($1,000) and Producer’s Circle ($1,500) packages that come with a variety of perks, including choice seats, exclusive restrooms, snacks and more.

Single tickets go on sale at a later date.

“We are so excited to welcome audiences back to San Jose’s Center for the Performing Arts for a season full of Broadway hits,” said Broadway San Jose general manager Gretchen Feyer, who noted that the company’s season features several San Francisco Bay Area exclusives.

“We are working diligently behind-the-scenes to create and expand new safety protocols and on-site operations to ensure a positive experience for our patrons, staff, and cast and

crew members,” she said.

In addition to the core season, Broadway San Jose is serving up several add-ons, including “Alton Brown Live — Beyond the Eats,” featuring the Food Network star and creator of “Good Eats” (Nov. 15); “A Magical Cirque Christmas,” (Dec. 30); “The Simon & Garfunkel Story” (Jan. 12); the “Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show” (Feb. 25-27); “Rent” (April 8-10, 2022) and “Come From Away” (July 12-17).
