Streaking Mavericks put halt to Jazz’s win streak at 9 games

Luka Doncic scored 31 points and Dorian Finney- Smith added a season-high 23 as the Mavericks beat the Utah Jazz 111-103 on Monday night in Dallas for their season-best fifth straight win.

The NBA-leading Jazz had their nine-game win- ning streak halted.

Jalen Brunson scored 20 points, Josh Richardson 17 and Tim Hardaway Jr. 16 as Dallas won for the first time in three games versus Utah this season. Kristaps Porzingis, Dallas’ No. 2 scorer and leading rebounder, sat out with a sprained right wrist.

Mike Conley scored 28 points to lead the Jazz, who trailed by 18 points. TIMBERWOLV­ES 116, KINGS 106>> D’Angelo Russell scored 25 points in his return from knee surgery and Karl-Anthony Towns had 23 points and 13 rebounds for host Minnesota. NETS 114, KNICKS 112>> Kyrie Irving scored 40 points, Jeff Green made two free throws with 3.7 seconds left and Brooklyn overcame the early loss of James Harden (hamstring) in New York. PISTONS 132, THUNDER 108>> Detroit’s Jerami Grant scored 21 points against his former team, in Oklahoma City.

RAPTORS 103, WIZARDS 101>> Gary Trent Jr. beat the buzzer with a long 3-pointer and the Raptors rallied from a 19-point second-half deficit in Toronto. Pascal Siakam led Toronto with 22 points.

CAVALIERS 125, SPURS 101>>

Darius Garland scored a career-high 37 points as visiting Cleveland snapped a five-game skid.

SUNS 133, ROCKETS 130>>

Devin Booker scored 36 points and Deandre Ayton 27 for Phoenix in Houston.

HAWKS’ HUNTER UNDERGOES PROCEDURE ON KNEE>>

Atlanta Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter continues to struggle with an ailing right knee, undergoing a nonsurgica­l procedure to address lingering soreness. The team said Hunter will return to activity later this week.

BUDDY HIELD FINED $20K FOR BERATING REFS >> The NBA fined Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield $20,000 for directing inappropri­ate language toward game officials.

The incident occurred following the end of the Kings’ 129-128 loss to Milwaukee on Saturday. The Kings were upset that Milwaukee’s Khris Middleton was awarded a timeout with 13.4 seconds left as he stepped out of bounds. The Kings were trailing by four points.
