Suspect sought in shooting that injured teens
Black, four-door SUV last seen driving on El Camino Real
MOUNTAIN VIEW >> Two teenagers were injured in a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting near downtown Mountain View on Friday, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at 8:30 p.m. on El Camino Real near Castro Street, the Mountain View Police Department said in a news release. Officers did not find any victims at the scene, but they received word moments later that two male teens had arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds.
One victim was shot several times in the upper body and the other was shot once in the upper body, police said.
“Fortunately, both were treated quickly and were subsequently released from the hospital,” police said.
An initial investigation found that the suspect drove up to the victims and fired several rounds before speeding away, police said. Officers found several shell casings in the eastbound direction of El Camino Real.
The suspect vehicle was described as a black fourdoor SUV with tinted windows. It was last seen driving eastbound on El Camino Real.
Police said the shooting was not publicized until Monday because officers were still following up on potential leads.
“We will release additional information as it becomes available, including any images,” police said.
Police are now asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect and the suspect vehicle. Anyone with information can contact Detective Dan Garcia at dan.garcia@mountainview.gov.
