Restaurants donating proceeds to the Stop AAPI Hate group
Dine out or grab a drink or coffee at any one of a dozen Peninsula restaurants today and your culinary dollars will help fight hate crimes and discrimination against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
“With the exponential rise of violence and hate in our communities, now more than ever we need to unite,” the Dining for AAPI organizers said on social media. “What better way to share the love for each other than over a good meal? Food tastes better when we stand together.”
Steven Yen, the owner of Bushido restaurant in Mountain View, initiated the fundraiser, partnering with Bay Area restaurant/ bar consultants Dante Perrucci and Steven Renteria on the project.
A portion of restaurant proceeds will go to Stop AAPI Hate, a nonprofit awareness and advocacy organization based in the Bay Area.
Besides Yen’s Bushido, participating businesses include:
Mountain View: The Asian Box, Doppio Zero, Fu Lam Mum, Hong Kong Bistro, La Fontaine, Ludwig’s and Steins restaurants; the 1 Oz. Coffee bar; and Savvy Cellar Wine Bar & Wine Shop.
Los Altos: Chef Chu’s restaurant.
Palo Alto: Go Fish Poke Bar and Taro San Japanese Noodle Bar, both at Stanford Shopping Center.
The event, Yen said, will help “seize the narrative that hate and discrimination of any kind are not tolerated and that we as a community will rise above it.”
