Shamina is back with new music
Shamina Khangaldy Isaac, the immensely talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from San Jose (who goes by the stage name Shamina), has released three tracks from her upcoming full-length debut album, “From the Valley.”
That’s good news, as she is blessed with one of the best voices in the entire Bay Area. All three cuts — “46,” “My God, My Good” and “Always Good” — are folk-pop gems that should appeal to fans of Sarah McLachlan, James Taylor and Kari Jobe. And they should really whet one’s appetite for hearing the entire “From the Valley” album, which comes out Friday.
The three songs are available to stream/download through the usual players (Amazon, Apple, Spotify, etc.). Or you can head to her YouTube page and hear the new music as well as other cool stuff that Shamina has posted. (Of particular note, we really dig her mashup of Lorde’s “Royals” withy Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX’s “Fancy.”)
Shamina, former worship arts director at Calvary Church in Los Gatos, appeared in the popular “Bay Area Blessing” video, which featured singers from dozens of local churches, as well as the follow-up video “Bay Area Blessing — Christmas.”
