Canucks return to ice, defeat Maple Leafs

Bo Horvat scored his second goal of the game at 1:19 of overtime to lift the Vancouver Canucks in a 3-2 comeback win against the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.

The Canucks, who were playing their first game since March 24 because of a severe COVID-19 outbreak that continues to leave them short-handed, rallied from a 2-0 deficit.

Nils Hoglander had a goal and an assist, and Braden Holtby made 37 saves for the Canucks (1718-3).

William Nylander returned from a five-game absence and contribute­d a goal and an assist, Auston Matthews also scored, and Jack Campbell made 21 saves for Toronto, which came in with a three-point lead over the Winnipeg Jets for first place in the North Division.

Campbell has lost three straight starts after setting an NHL record by winning his first 11 to start the season.

BRUINS 6, CAPITALS 3 >> David Krejci, Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand each scored two goals and Boston held off Washington in a heated matchup between the East rivals.

Marchand also had two assists for the Bruins, who won their fourth straight. SABRES 4, PENGUINS 2 >> Sam Reinhart scored twice, and Buffalo bounced back to beat Pittsburgh a day after becoming the NHL’s first team eliminated from playoff contention RANGERS 5, DEVILS 3 >> Birthday boy Mika Zibanejad scored a powerplay goal with three minutes to play and New York beat New Jersey to sweep a four-game series over the past six days.

The win kept New York four points behind Boston in the East with 11 games left in the regular season. GOLDEN KNIGHTS 5, DUCKS 2 >> had a goal and an assist as Vegas moved into a tie for first place in the West Division with the Colorado Avalanche.

Alex Pietrangel­o and Alex Tuch also scored goals, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 33 saves as the Golden Knights extended their winning streak to six games, matching a season best.

ISLANDERS 1, FLYERS 0, OT >> Defenseman Nick Leddy scored 2:23 into overtime and Ilya Sorokin made 30 saves to lift New York over Philadelph­ia.

Brian Elliott made 27 saves, including several stellar stops late in the third period, for Philly.
