Suspect sought in hit-and-run crash on expressway
Authorities were searching for the driver of a car involved in an injury hit-and-run
Monday night in Santa Clara.
At 9:15 p.m., an officer spotted a dark-colored sedan “driving at a high rate of speed” on southbound San Tomas Expressway, near Homestead Road, said Santa
Clara Assistant Police Chief Wahid Kazem.
Kazem said the officer continued driving on San Tomas Expressway and witnessed a collision involving the same car at the intersection of Saratoga Avenue. The force of the impact pushed the second vehicle into a third vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to a hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries, Kazem said.
No other injuries were reported.
The occupants of the sedan ran from the scene and had not been found as of Tuesday.
