Baseball

No. 11 St. Francis 4, No. 1 Valley Christian 2 >> St. Francis rallied from a 2-0 deficit with two runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take down top-ranked Valley Christian in a Thursday baseball game for the second game in a row. The victory moved St. Francis (10-4, 6-2) one game ahead of Valley Christian (13-4, 5-3) in the West Catholic Athletic League standings.

Ryan Lee drove in three runs for the Lancers.

In Tuesday’s game, St. Francis won on the road as Justin Cavagnaro had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs to lead the way.

Lee also knocked in two runs and Will Bonini pitched five innings (one earned run) to get the win. Two scoreless innings from Jack Surdey finished off Valley Christian.

No. 15 Pioneer 4, No. 10 Live Oak 3 >> Thursday was payback time for Pioneer, which scored twice in the top of the seventh to rally back from a 3-2 deficit and hand Live Oak its first loss of the season after 10 straight wins.

On Tuesday, Live Oak crushed the Mustangs 14-4.

St. Patrick St. Vincent 6, No. 14 Berean Christian 5 >> St. Patrick St. Vincent completed a two-game sweep of Berean Christian, which came into the series undefeated at 11-0. The Bruins have won three in a row after having started the season 2-3.

Jomar Connors was outstandin­g at the plate and on the mound for SPSV. He was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored, and pitched the final two innings.

No. 5 Archbishop Mitty 5, Bellarmine 0 >> Anthony Sanguinett­i pitched a complete-game shutout, and Harry Rodhouse had two hits and drove in two runs to lead Mitty. Chris Stivaletti had three hits and an RBI for Mitty.

Boys basketball

No. 1 Campolindo 77, Northgate 62 >> The top-ranked Cougars (8-0) scored 28 points in the second quarter, led 45-28 at intermissi­on and rolled past Northgate (2-4).

No. 4 Archbishop Mitty 69, No. 2 Bellarmine 48 >> Bellarmine jumped to No. 2 this week in the BANG Top 15 after an impressive set of wins to start the season, but Mitty had the upper hand Wednesday night.

Mitty senior Michael Mitchell dished out 9 assists and tied sophomore Derek Sangster for the team lead with 15 points. Senior Cole Despie hit four 3-pointers in the first quarter to keep Bellarmine close before Mitty opened its first substantia­l advantage with a 20-6 second quarter.

Girls basketball

No. 5 Salesian 72, Antelope 67 >> Salesian wiped out a seven-point halftime deficit by scoring 48 points after intermissi­on en route to defeating a good Antelope team. Salesian is 3-0. Antelope suffered its first defeat after a 6-0 start.

Silivia Fonongaloa, a 6-1 junior, powered Salesian’s come back. She had 29 points and 15 rebounds. Makiah Asidanya had 11 points.

No. 1 Archbishop Mitty 84, Presentati­on 17 >> Top-ranked Mitty gave previously unbeaten Presentati­on a rude awakening in the first of a home-and-home series to open West Catholic Athletic League play on Wednesday.

Senior Amelia Scharpf didn’t miss a shot from the field en route to a game-high 18 points, while the Monarchs otherwise spread around the scoring, with senior Olivia Williams (11) the only other player in double figures. The Monarchs forced 16 turnovers by steals alone, led by three from Noemie Bariteau, who also contribute­d nine points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Softball

No. 5 Livermore 2, No. 12 Granada 1 >> Tuesday’s matchup between Livermore rivals was tight throughout as single runs in the second and third innings and Taylor Rodriguez’s pitching were the difference. Kaitlyn Aguilar had a hit and an RBI for Livermore (13-1).

Rodriguez allowed two hits and an unearned run with 13 strikeouts.
