Miles Teller’s alleged assailant is arrested
An arrest has been made in the case of Miles Teller’s alleged assault in a Maui restaurant, Newsday and Us Weekly reported Monday.
News sites said a man was apprehended by authorities in connection to case, but there is no further word.
Teller was reportedly punched in the face in the restroom of a restaurant on the island of Maui by a man who claims the movie star never paid his bills for his 2019 wedding.
TMZ reported that the 34-year-old “Fantastic Four” actor was seen being a hit during an argument over unpaid bills at about 7:30 p.m. May 26. Law enforcement officials told TMZ that Teller and his wife, Keleigh Sperry, were eating at Maui’s Monkeypod Kitchen when he got involved in a confrontation in the bathroom.
The conflict continued outside the bathroom, where Teller screamed he was going to press charges, TMZ said.
Teller did not appear to be seriously injured.
Teller and Sperry have issued statements confirming that he was jumped in a restroom at a restaurant on the island of Maui, but said his assailants were two men he’d never met and denied the attack was over an unpaid bill.
Sperry later issued a statement about the incident. “Miles was jumped by two men we have never met after they trapped him in a bathroom,” the 28-yearold wrote. “It seems these same men have done this to many people and we appreciate your support Maui. This is now a criminal investigation.” She also noted that a report that Teller was “punched” in the face over money is “completely false.”

The man who punched Teller reportedly was a wedding planner who claims that Teller owed him $60,000 for services he performed for the actor’s wedding to Sperry in Maui in 2019, TMZ said, citing an eyewitness. The man complained to Teller that he had never been paid, the eyewitness said.
It’s not clear if Teller and Sperry were dining alone at the restaurant, but Teller posted a photo of the two catching a meal together. They had been seen hanging out with actor Woodley and her fiance, football star Aaron Rodgers.
