Nine-run seventh lifts Dodgers to win

Justin Turner homered for one of his three hits and Mookie Betts rapped a go-ahead tworun single during Los Angeles’ nine-run seventh inning, as the visiting Dodgers rallied for a seventh consecutiv­e victory, 10-5 over the Washington Nationals on Friday night.

Turner’s solo homer in the fourth and three other hits were all Los Angeles managed against Washington star Max Scherzer through the first six innings. However, once Scherzer, who struck out eight, exited the game, the Dodgers’ bats came alive.

Down 3-1 in the seventh, Los Angeles got within a run on Albert Pujols’ RBI infield single against Sam Clay (0-1). After the Dodgers loaded the bases, Betts gave the visitors a 4-3 lead on his two-run single off Austin Voth.

Max Muncy plated two more with a single and Chris Taylor made it 8-3 with a twoout, two-run single. A.J. Pollock completely broke the game open with his two-run homer to right field to make it a 10-3 contest.

The Dodgers, who were honored at The White House on Friday for their 2020 World Series title, have outscored Washington 29-12 while winning all five meetings this season.

PHILLIES 4, PADRES 3, 10 INNINGS >> Brad Miller doubled with one out in the 10th inning to rescue the Phillies’ beleaguere­d bullpen, giving Philadelph­ia a win over visiting San Diego.

The Phillies blew a 3-0 lead in the ninth inning — their 22nd blown save of the season and eighth in nine games.

Jose Alvarado got the final out of the eighth in relief of Zack Wheeler but allowed three of the first four batters to reach in the ninth, including an RBI double by Fernando Tatis Jr. Ranger Suarez (4-2) came in and allowed a two-run double to Jurickson Profar.

In the 10th, Miller drove a slider from Austin Adams (2-2) deep to right-center with runners on first and second and one out to score Andrew McCutchen.

Wheeler pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits with nine strikeouts and no walks.

BREWERS7,PIRATES2>> Adrian Houser scattered four hits over 6 2/3 innings, and Milwaukee extended its winning streak to 10 games with a victory at Pittsburgh.

Houser (5-5) allowed one run, struck out five and walked two in his longest outing since last August.

BLUE JAYS 11, RAYS 1 >> Alek Manoah (2-0), back from a five-game suspension, struck out a career-high 10 over seven innings of three-hit ball for Toronto in its win over Tampa Bay.

George Springer, Marcus Semien and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered for Toronto, which has won nine of 12. Semien, elected an All-Star starter Thursday, scored three times.

REDS2,CUBS1>> Joey Votto hit a two-run double in the sixth inning, and Cincinnati handed Chicago Cubs its seventh straight loss.

ROYALS’ PEREZ IN DERBY >> Kansas City catcher Salvador Pérez, who has 20 homers this season, will join Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels, Trey Mancini of the Baltimore Orioles, Pete Alonso of the New York Mets and Trevor Story of the Colorado Rockies in the All-Star Home Run Derby on July 12 at Denver.
