Shailene Woodley hid latest romance

Shailene Woodley explains the reasons that she and Aaron Rodgers kept quiet “for months and months” about dating and getting engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“When we announced that we were engaged, we wanted to do that only because we didn’t want someone else to do it before we did,” Woodley, 29, told The Hollywood Reporter in her cover story published Friday.

The “Big Little Lies” star and the Green Bay Packers quarterback, 37, first sparked dating rumors in July 2020 but they didn’t confirm a romance until February, when they announced they already were engaged.

“We didn’t do it for months and months after we had become engaged, but the reaction to it was really a lot, and so we were like, ‘Let’s just politely decline (to talk about the relationship) for a little while and live in our little bubble.’ ”

Woodley also reveals to The Hollywood Reporter that she and Rodgers met through mutual friends who are musicians — dispelling rampant speculation that they met through Rodgers’ ex-girlfriend Danica Patrick or were introduced by celebrity astrologer Debra Silverman, whom both are known to be fans of. Woodley doesn’t say when exactly she met the NFL star, but it was sometime after the start of the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It’s publicly known that Rodgers and Patrick ended their high-profile relationship in July 2020, around the time that Rodgers and Woodley first sparked dating rumors. There also were reports that Rodgers broke up with the former NASCAR driver to be with Woodley. The Hollywood Reporter said Woodley spent the pandemic “getting close to Rodgers.”

They moved in together “within months” of meeting.

Last month, the actress told Shape that she and Rodgers moved in together pretty quickly and “jumped in headfirst and got some of the sticky bits out of the way early.” After becoming a couple, they shuttled between their homes in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter said.
