Teen arrested in connection with Redwood City shooting

The victim was not injured after suspect fired from his vehicle

REDWOOD CITY >> A 16-yearold boy has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting in Redwood City, police said.

The shooting was reported at about noon July 29 on the 1500 block of Gordon Street, the Redwood City Police Department said in a news release Monday.

The victim told officers he was checking on his parked vehicle when a passenger in a speeding vehicle pointed a gun at him and fired at least five times. The victim was not injured, but his vehicle was struck by the gunfire. Officers collected spent 9mm bullet casings at the scene.

Police said the victim knew the suspect and later positively identified him as the shooter.

Detectives arrested the suspect near his residence. They found a 9mm magazine and 9mm ammunition on him, but not the weapon used in the drive-by, police said.

The suspect was booked into the Hillcrest Juvenile Center on a charge of attempted murder.
