FIVE PLAYERS TO WATCH

- — Cam Inman

Anything done by 49ers quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance and perhaps even Nate Sudfeld will be overanalyzed in today’s preseason game against the host Los Angeles Chargers.

So here are five other players to keep an eye on:

Left tackle Jaylon Moore: Can the 49ers’ quarterbacks have their blindside protected by this 6-foot4 rookie who was a fifth-round draft pick from Western Michigan? Trent Williams and Shon Coleman are likely out with knee injuries, and Moore should see significant action before being subbed out for Corbin Kaufusi, who is 28 and 6-9 from BYU.

Wide receiver Jauan Jennings: He thrived in his pro debut against the Chiefs with 49 all-purpose yards. It’s his blocking, aggressive nature and overall exuberance that are making his stock climb. He hasn’t had a perfect camp but he’s closing in on one of the final receiver spots.

Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir:

Lenoir could get his second straight start, seeing how Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring) has missed recent practices or if the 49ers again want to rest veteran Jason Verrett. Lenoir had an interception against the Kansas City Chiefs in his pro debut last Sunday. More plays like that could thrust this feisty 5-10 cornerback into serious consideration for a role in the regular-season rotation.

Running back Wayne Gallman Jr.:

He’s not as explosive as starter Raheem Mostert or second-year back JaMycal Hasty, the latter of whom could be his chief competition for a roster spot. Gallman succeeded in one impressive pass protection last game and that effort as a third-down back could be key.

Linebacker Mychal Kendricks:

The 30-year-old former Cal star could make his 49ers debut. Look for him at strong-side linebacker because Azeez Al-Shaair has had elbow and knee issues this camp, but Kendricks also could show up on the interior as a reserve who

can seize this chance to show he’s still got it.
