Super Micro expands San Jose campus with new building

SAN JOSE >> Super Micro Computer has opened a new manufactur­ing building on its vast north San Jose campus, marking a fresh expansion for the company in Silicon Valley.

The new manufactur­ing center is part of the Super Micro Green Computing Campus near the corner of Ridder Park Drive and Brokaw Road in San Jose.

“We are excited to be opening our new state-ofthe-art manufactur­ing facility in the heart of Silicon Valley,” said Charles Liang, Super Micro’s chief executive officer.

The building, located at 728 Ridder Park Drive, totals more than 200,000 square feet, according to the tech company.

“I am thrilled that Supermicro continues to expand its Silicon Valleybase­d Green Computing park with the addition of a new manufactur­ing site,” San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo said.

Super Micro will manufactur­e advanced storage and server equipment in the new building.

The gear will be used to support cutting-edge artificial intelligen­ce and machine learning technologi­es.

The company now has 12 buildings in its Green Computing Campus, which totals more than 1.5 million square feet. In addition to the corporate headquarte­rs, the campus supports, engineerin­g, manufactur­ing and customer service.

The new building is also using Bloom Energy servers to generate electricit­y based on fuel cells.

Super Micro employs about 2,400 people at the 12-building campus in San Jose. The company said it is “actively recruiting” and is in a hiring mode.

“For 28 years, Supermicro’s jobs, innovation, and advanced technologi­es have contribute­d tremendous­ly to our Silicon Valley economy,” Mayor Liccardo said.
